The Reimagine Café is a community space for all those involved in placemaking and reimagining their built environment, meeting on the last Tuesday of every month.
Our September café will focus on Meanwhile Spaces, a way of creating a temporary use for a place until a longer plan is in place. Sheila Deegan, formerly Limerick’s Arts Officer, will give an overview of Creative Limerick, an initiative that invited artists to take over empty units in the city during the recession.
We will also hear from Grace Mitchell about Cork County Council’s Pop-up Shop Scheme, and from their partner in this scheme, Blackwater Valley Makers.
If you would like to join us to discuss this topic, or to share an example from your own area, join us on ZOOM on Tuesday, September 28th. We would love to hear about successful strategies and case studies related to meanwhile spaces – such as markets, pop-up shops, innovative relationships. If you have a project, challenge, or idea you would like to share, email engagement@architecturefoundation.ie before 24th September.
