The Reimagine Café is a community space for all those involved in placemaking and reimagining their built environment, meeting on the last Tuesday of every month.
With the launch of the Government of Ireland’s Our Rural Future – Rural Development Policy 2021 – 2025, we are making “Rural Futures” the theme of June’s Reimagine Cafe, on June 29th.
We are delighted to hear from two really interesting projects from two sides of the country. We will be joined by Áine Bird, Coordinator and Research Officer with the Burrenbeo Trust, a landscape charity dedicated to connecting all of us to our places and our role in caring for them. They engage with local and visiting communities, old and young, to generate a sense of informed pride in their heritage and landscape. They promote the Burren as the ultimate learning landscape as a means of future sustainable management of the region. They develop and share knowledge of best practices in active community stewardship, place-based and community-based learning.
Also joining us will be Rosie Lynch, Creative Director of Callan Workhouse Union in County Kilkenny. Workhouse Union works with artists, designers, architects and craftspeople to develop projects examining housing, civic infrastructure and the commons, engaging people with the spaces and places we live. Workhouse Union recently launched Town Ecologies, a project which supports three Irish emerging architects to develop their co-design and participatory community engagement skills and experience within a rural context
