Our final Reimagine Cafe for the year will be held in the Science Gallery, Dublin as part of the Housing Unlocked exhibition. This cafe will focus on Town Centre First initiatives, include the the IAF's Hometown Architect programme. Speakers in include Mairead Hunt and Philip Crowe.

What is an estate? What could an estate be? This workshop is an exploration of the housing estate, open to everyone including architects, urbanists, artists, community groups and - most importantly - residents.

As the Irish Architecture Foundation winds up this phase of the Workers' Village project, we are hosting an event that explores some of the themes connected to the project which will bring together academics, architects, and community members to think together about the legacy and future story of the Bord na Mona villages.

On November 9th, the IAF will host a Workers’ Villages colloquium, which will bring together academics, architects and community members to think together about the legacy and future story of the Bord na Mona villages. The IAF is inviting submissions for two essays to be included in this colloquium.

The Reimagine Workers' Villages exhibition is a celebration of the work and legacy of architect Frank Gibney by the Irish Architecture Foundation, and the contribution of the communities that were created through his innovative Bord na Móna villages. Public Reception: November 9th, 5.30 pm

Over three days, the Reimagine Workers’ Villages team introduced the project to hundreds of people attending the festival, with a bespoke exhibition and a series of panel talks in the Government Village bringing the project to the national stage.

Reimagine Cafe: Manuals for Future Places. The Irish Architecture Foundation is hosting its first-ever live Reimagine Café as part of the Dublin Art Book Fair.

The Reimagine Café is a community space for all those involved in placemaking and reimagining their built environment, meeting on the last Tuesday of every month. Our October café will focus on collaboration, and how this can build innovative, impactful and long-lasting improvements in our built environment

The Creative Bureaucrat: Investing in strategic creativity in Ireland. This one hour webinar is for those working within a local authority wondering how it’s possible to bring creativity into strategic planning in a meaningful way.

Reimagine is one of 14 projects selected nationwide as part of Creative Ireland's Creative Climate Action Fund. This Creative Ireland initiative supports creative, cultural and artistic projects that build awareness around climate change and empowers citizens to make meaningful behavioural changes.

Four new architects and teams have been selected to work with communities around Ireland to co-design an aspect of their built environment, as part of the Irish Architecture Foundation's Reimagine Programme. 

Our September café will focus on Meanwhile Use Spaces, a way of creating a temporary use for a place until a longer plan is in place.

This edition of Reimagine Sessions focuses on the centre of towns, areas that currently face major challenges as we undergo a shift in how we shop, work, travel and live. How can we reimagine a future for our town cores in the face of online retail and dereliction? Could remote working allow us to turn away from long commutes, and refocus our attention on our towns as places for social interaction and connection? What needs to happen for more people to return to Main Street living?

For our August edition, we will be focusing on the critical issue of dereliction in our communities, with widespread impact visually, socially, economically as well as representing a huge loss of our built heritage. If you would like to join us to discuss this topic or to share an example from your own area, join us on ZOOM on Tuesday, August 31st. We would love to hear about successful strategies and case studies, of buildings brought back to life and vibrant, lived-in streets. 

The theme for our next Cafe is "City Villages". We want to celebrate these villages - to hear about why they are special and what we can learn from them as we develop new communities. This cafe is at 1 pm on July 27th.

With the launch of the Government of Ireland's Our Rural Future - Rural Development Policy 2021 - 2025, we are making "Rural Futures" the theme of June's Reimagine Cafe, on June 29th. 

"From Mini Forests to Pocket Parks - Greening Interventions in Public Space". We have invited three speakers to reflect on the value of these small and valuable spaces, and consider ways that we can design our surroundings with the health of our bodies, communities and planet in mind.
