Four new architects and teams have been selected to work with communities around Ireland to co-design an aspect of their built environment, as part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Reimagine Programme.
In the South East, Atelier Rae Moore in partnership with Connect the Dots are working with the Waterford Cultural Quarter, Waterford Area Partnership and the Department of Architecture in WIT to create a vision for an inclusive and welcoming community market in the heart of the city.
In Dublin, Hassett Ducatez Architects are working with the Corn Network and their fantastic local design team to find a new use for the derelict Marshalsea Barracks.
There are two very different projects in the west of Ireland. In Galway, architect Deirdre Greaney is supporting the dynamic Headford Town Team to reflect and rethink the role of their main street, as they face the challenge that many of our towns face in terms of traffic, town centre living and liveability.
In Roscommon, architects Evelyn D’Arcy and David Jameson are collaborating with the residents of Cloontuskert to reimagine a new sustainable vision for their Bord na Mona village. This is part of our Workers’ Villages project, funded by Creative Ireland’s Creative Climate Action fund, which over the course of two years, will allow us to work with three communities living at the heart of Just Transition.
