Location: behind Mitchell & Co. Solicitors
Date: Saturday 4th June, 11am-3pm

Galway people are all invited to experience a pop-up community space tucked away in a cosy courtyard just off Headford Main Street. Programmed as part of the popular Headfest festival, the Bloom Room on Main Street is a creative project by Headford Town Team in collaboration with Architect and urban design specialist Deirdre Greaney.

Following on from the hugely successful ReImagine Headford survey, come see what it’s all about in this reimagined space! The Bloom Room on Main Street is a physical space to discuss, debate and get involved in the future reimagining of Headford Town Centre. A temporary host space for the day, The Bloom Room is a place for people to rest, play and chat in Headford Town Centre. With flowers, plants and pots for pollinators by McGaughs Gardening Complex, the Imagination Playground by Bricí Spraoi, live music by Eoin Stiffe, an Ice-cream Cart, Brown Bag Dounuts and much more, come and enjoy this temporary community space in bloom on Main Street Headford.

A group of passionate local community members have been working with the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Reimagine programme to reimagine a new future for their main street. Like many towns around Ireland, they face a challenge of a declining main street, poor pedestrian experience and traffic management issues. However, through their hugely successful public survey and community engagement activities, they have dreamt up an innovative concept for reactivating their main street while shining a light on Headford’s unique courtyard spaces. Together, they are ready to try new ways of enjoying their main street, celebrating its qualities and trialling solutions to its challenges. The aim is to creatively, as a community, create a new vision for the street, allowing them to guide the future development of their town.

Reimagine is a nationwide placemaking programme by the Irish Architecture Foundation (IAF), funded by the Arts Council, the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Reimagine was made possible through seed funding by the Creative Ireland Programme’s National Creativity Fund.
