Community partners: Common Knowledge, ACT Studio and Lisdoonvarna Failte.
Architect: Shelley McNamara

‘Lisdoonvarna 2050’ will co-design a vision for a Lisdoonvarna rooted in its heritage of wellbeing, seen as a key asset in the town’s transition towards a sustainable and equitable future.

Lisdoonvarna project is one of five around the country selected for Reimagine Hometown Architect initiative, a programme which focuses on the revitalisation of Ireland’s towns and villages.

The first of a series of public events, ‘Tapping the Well’ took place in June when Lisdoonvarna Failte hosted an evening to reflect on the town’s development to date, along with exploring possible pathways for the future that can realign the town more closely with it’s wellbeing heritage.

The event introduced by Pritzker Prize-winning architect and Lisdoonvarna native Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects was followed by a presentation charting the development of Lisdoonvarna by ACT Studio, and a workshop co-facilitated with ACT Studio by local social enterprise Common Knowledge, co-founded by Harrison Gardner, presenter of the RTÉ television series ‘Build Your Own Home’.
